چکیده
Objective: To compare various scoring systems to predict the prognosis in patients of cirrhosis presenting with hepatic encephalopathy at Pak Emirates Military Hospital Rawalpindi.
 Study Design: Cross-sectional study.
Place and Duration: Gastroenterology Department, Rawalpindi, from Sep 2018 Feb 2019.
Methodology: This study was conducted on 55 suffering liver presetting our hospital. Diagnosis made by a consultant gastroenterologist based clinical findings relevant investigations. Chronic failure-sequential organ failure assessment (CLIF-SOFA), Model for end stage disease (MELD), Child-Turcotte-Pugh (CTP) scores were calculated all within first 24 hours presentation. Outcome patient either discharged or deceased study. Comparison between three that which is better predictor these patients.
Results: Out included final analysis 35 male 20 female. Commonest etiology Infection followed Constipation.10 had grade 1 encephalopathy, 15 2, 3 while 10 4 encephalopathy. CLIF-SOFA emerged as MELD CTP.
Conclusion: best predicting CTP also significant this regard but less compared CLIFSOFA.

Rehabilitation for cirrhotic patients discharged after hepatic encephalopathy improves survival.
INTRODUCTION The 1-year mortality of cirrhotic patients with hepatic encephalopathy (HE) is approximately 60-80% in recent studies. We aimed to establish a rehabilitation out-patient clinic (RC) for alcoholic cirrhotic patients sur-viving HE. MATERIAL AND METHODS Prospectively, patients surviving HE were offered participation in the RC and were seen by a nurse for a one-hour interview with 1-...
متن کاملPrevalence of minimal hepatic encephalopathy in cirrhotic patients.
Background. Minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) has implications for health-related quality of life as well as for survival of cirrhotic patients, but a standardized diagnostic test is not available. Objective. To determine the prevalence of MHE among cirrhotic patients by using the psychometric hepatic encephalopathy score (PHES) system and the critical flicker frequency (CFF) test to diagnos...
متن کاملPrognosis of cirrhotic patients admitted to the general ICU
BACKGROUND The prognosis of cirrhotic patients admitted to the ICU is considered to be poor but has been mainly reported in liver ICU. We aimed to describe the prognosis of cirrhotic patients admitted to a general ICU, to assess the predictors of mortality in this population, and, finally, to identify a subgroup of patients in whom intensive care escalation might be discussed. RESULTS We perf...
متن کاملPsychometric Hepatic Encephalopathy Score for the Diagnosis of Minimal Hepatic Encephalopathy in Romanian Cirrhotic Patients--partial Results.
UNLABELLED In Romania, minimal hepatic encephalopathy (MHE) is underdiagnosed and undertreated in patients with liver cirrhosis. The psychometric hepatic encephalopathy score (PHES) is recommended as the first-line tool for the diagnosis of MHE. AIM To use PHES in a group of Romanian cirrhotic patients and highlight the relationships between demographic and biological factors and tests result...
